Sarah has always considered life an adventure. Both a free spirit and a bit of a rebel, she had dreamed of owning her own business for as long as she could remember. She had a strong desire to create and do something she loved while providing a product that people connected with.
In 2019, with a 4 year old, and newborn twins, Sarah made the decision to quit her job to stay at home and care for them. Having been used to a high energy, stressful job, she found the days long and repetitive. She decided to learn how to do hoop embroidery at night after the children went to sleep. Never one to conform, she chose not to order kits, simply ordering the necessary supplies. She learned two stitches by watching YouTube videos. Using these, she designed and completed several projects. She immediately loved it, but didn’t know what to do with her finished works.
In the summer of 2021 Sarah and her family relocated from Arizona to North Texas. She bought a faux fur lined denim jacket with the intention of adding patches to it. In the winter, she ordered a DIY patch kit, completed it during a snowy week, and added it to the sleeve of her jacket. Having found a practical application for embroidery, she began to research the materials and process required to make her own designs into patches.
By the end of the winter, her jacket had enough patches that she was on the verge of needing another. With the support of her family, and the encouragement of several friends, Revolution Handmade was created in the Spring of 2022. Sarah began to sell at local markets and craft fairs finding joy and purpose in sharing her work with others.
She continues to hone her craft by learning new techniques and stitches. Each piece she makes she would wear. She values quality and lives by the phrase, “do it right or do it twice”.
